Your assignment is to take notes in your journal as you watch the movie, and then complete the Design Brief afterwards. The Design Brief will include information such as problem statement, design statement, and constraints.  Please ensure that you write grammatically correct, properly punctuated, correctly capitalized sentences.

The Design Brief must be handed in at the end of the class period today.

Extra Credit/Extension: On the back of the Design Brief form, there are concluding questions. Answer the questions thoroughly.  You may work with a partner on the answers in class.

Overview of Week starting 8/30 - Flight of the Gossamer Condor

This week we will be doing an activity that reviews the design process in the Flight of the Gossamer Condor documentary.

You may copy the IED_2009 curriculum file from the Network\NAS\SoftDist folder to your USB drive. Note that you will only be able to open this file from your USB drive, and not through the network.

There will be a vocabulary quiz to finish off the week.

ICT-C Tech Weekly Overview of 8/30 & 9/1

By popular demand, this week you are going to be learning Photo Story 3, a program that allows you to create animated slide shows with text and sound. Once you import images, add text, add narration and/or background music, you can generate a video file that you can then watch in Windows Media Player or even upload to YouTube.

For this learning assignment, you are basically going to:

  1. Download 5 images about one "topic" into your Z:\Tech folder from the Internet
  2. Copy a folder of blank, colored images from Network\NAS\SoftDist to your Z:\Tech folder
  3. Start Photo Story 3 and begin a new project
  4. Save the project into your Z:\Tech folder with a filename of MyFirstPhotostory (which creates a Photostory Document)
  5. Import the pictures
  6. Import a blank, colored image and drag it to the beginning of the timeline, to use as an opening title slide
  7. Add some text on each of the slides
  8. Add background music using the built-in music generator
  9. Save the project again
  10. Save the story which creates the MyFirstPhotostory (Windows Media Video) file in your Z:\Tech folder that is viewable in Windows Media Player.
  11. View your photostory!

To get credit for this assignment, I must find a file named MyFirstPhotostory (the Windows Media Video file with a .wmv file extension) in your Z:\Tech folder.
